About Bruce Shaw - RICS Regulation

Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors is one of a number of professions that operate under a self-regulation model. That is, Chartered Surveyors are not regulated by government but are monitored and inspected by their professional body RICS. This is because our standards of regulation already meet, and in some cases surpass, the UK Government’s own regulation principles.

Consumer protection and the development of the profession for the public advantage are at the core and are the reason the RICS has retained its Royal Charter status for over 130 years. We are very proud of this position and recognize the responsibility placed upon us. That is why we are consistently working to ensure we set the standards for professional regulation not just in the UK but around the world.
